about me

I'm an American architectural historian and historic preservationist living in Bordeaux, France, with my husband. We seem to be the only retired couple in France without a dog, so we're thinking about adding a long-haired dachshund to our family. We hope he'll look like this:

I have history and architecture degrees from southern universities that are better known for their football teams than their academics, and a masters' degree in Historic Preservation from Columbia University which is, thankfully, better known for its academics than its football team.

For many years I was happily self-employed as a preservationist in the New York/New Jersey area. My specialties are paint analysis and lighting design for historic buildings. My current architectural obsessions are Romanesque churches and fortified mills. I have too many gastronomic obsessions to list.
